History

Quantum was created as a management buyout of Coats Viyella Clothing in December 2000.


Whilst Quantum is a new business, the retained parts of the business all have long trading history, some dating back as far as 1865.

The individual businesses each have proud traditions of creating working environments that produce innovative creative design and development, linked to an ability to turn those concepts into mass produced quality product manufactured mainly overseas. We pride ourselves on our delivery and quality performance and the overall service we provide to our customers.

The Business

The turnover of the group is c£110 million per annum.

We are truly an international business with owned factories and sources all over the world. As our manufacturing presence in the UK diminishes we continue to grow and build in more cost effective areas, whilst retaining skilled Design, Technical and Logistics roles in the UK.

People

We employ approx. 4800 people around the world. We are a young business with lots to prove and few management preconceptions; in our case our people are certainly our greatest asset. We believe that individuals are important and seek to attract and retain the best in the market place.

Communication

The world is becoming a global village and our Information Technology reflects that fact. In each of the businesses and overseas factories we have heavily invested in IT and video conferencing facilities. We continue to explore faster, cheaper ways to communicate internally and externally.
